Mexico City is preparing to face a new cold front that will bring low temperatures this Thursday, November 14. The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection of CDMX has activated the yellow alert due to these weather conditions.
Seven municipalities in the capital will be the most affected, with forecasts indicating temperatures between 4°C and 6°C. These municipalities are Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan, Tláhuac, and Xochimilco.
To cope with this drop in temperature, the population is advised to dress warmly, especially covering the nose and mouth to avoid inhaling cold air and thereby prevent respiratory illnesses or other health problems.
The Meteorological Service of the National Water Commission has reported that the cold is a result of the passage of cold front number 8, which primarily affects the northern part of the country. Temperatures are expected to drop mainly between 4:00 and 8:00 AM on Tuesday, November 12.
Authorities emphasize avoiding going out without proper clothing, preventing sudden temperature changes, staying hydrated, and vaccinating against diseases. Additionally, it is recommended to consume foods rich in vitamins A and C, such as citrus fruits and vegetables, to strengthen the immune system.
In case of discomfort such as fever or cough, the population is urged to go to the nearest health center for timely medical attention. Authorities have provided emergency numbers for support if necessary, reminding that during this season it is crucial to prevent cold-related illnesses.
